Road trips and lazy days

Somehow this is the only photo I took on our spontaneous Roadtrip to flagstaff over the weekend. such a big boy.

And here are two little boys enjoying some down time after school today. No, I don't have them watching tv or playing with the phone all the time :-)

Spontaneous Roadtripping

We woke up this morning and thought, why aren't we in flagstaff for this three day weekend? So, we packed up and hit the road. Look at this big boy enjoying the ride!

Perfect zoo weather

Noah and Wes were both so excited to get maps at the front. "Are they free?!" And having a way to get around, so exciting. We spent a lot of tome looking at those maps and finding our way. Who cares if we've been there a hundred times and know where everything is? It was a beautiful day!

Homemade bird feeders

We bought a big bag of birdseed at the nursery the other day, but of course, we don't have any bird feeders! I looked around on Pinterest and then came up with these. They won't last through a rain, but the birds might be happy for now.

I don't know if you can see it, but each one has two sticks across underneath to serve as perches.

Hope the birds come see us!

Two remote controlled tiny submarines arrived in the mail today. The boys have great fun driving them around the tub. Can't wait to try them at the pool! Thanks Gram!

Winter Desert

It's been very cold here this week. I mean  in the forties or so (yes, for some of you this doesn't sound cold, bit talk to is in June. Our blood is thinner.) anyway, today it warmed up a little and Noah was finally feeling good enough to get up off the couch after a flu. We took the opportunity to get out for a desert hike. This is the time of year to do it!

If you look closely, you might be able to see snow in the mountains out in the distance.

Happy New Year!

We spent a day at home with Noah feeling very under the weather. Still, we had fun doing some projects in the afternoon. I was super excited to try this new play dough recipe from Wesley's teacher. It turned out awesome! We couldn't find any food coloring so it was white with sliver and blue glitter. Perfect for "snow balls."

I think Wes was pretty interested to see how to make the play dough.

After some play dough time, Noah and Chris made a papier-mâché (thank you auto-correct) volcano and I made some tamari cashews.

And here is Wes, about 45 minutes later, making "pumpkin pie."

Here's to lots more projects and family time this year!
