Community gardening

I meant to post these over a week ago, but I guess I missed it! We have a new little plot at a community garden that is just getting started down the street from us. We've been having lots of fun putting plants in the dirt, and watching them grow even when we're out of town. Automatic watering is a wonderful thing.

I didn't get a photo of our little blue garden gnome, but the boys are pretty sure he's responsible for having some magic that's making the plants grow so well. The plants are bigger now. I'll try for an update soon.

Lately, if the boys ask for paper it will have my writing on the back, sometimes printed very tiny. Today I guess the tiny writing was more interesting than coloring  and Noah was inspired to make "fortunes" with the little words. They were very funny little strings of anthropology jargon too.

Noah took this last picture himself.

How baths should be

We should all get to have a bath this great. Don't you think?

Another keeper

Since I was sharing the cute things Noah said the other day, here's one from Wesley that I wanted to share, and to make sure I remember!
Yesterday afternoon after I picked Wes up from school and we got out of the car, I was holding him and snuggling for a minute.

Me: "Do you know how much I love you?"
Wes: "Two cases."

Well, at least that much! :-)

Gardening and grocery adventures

There they go, off to put some little seedlings and seeds into our new plot at the new community garden down the street. We have plenty of yard space, but really would like to see the garden get for the ground, and also love the idea of automatic watering!
I stayed home to get some work done. Hopefully the days of Chris taking the boys out to do fun things while I stay home will be getting less common soon!
In the afternoon I wanted to go grocery shopping and somehow, I don't know how, but somehow Chris convinced me that we should ride our cargo bikes to Trader Joe's. If you've ever been to our house, you know that it's a long DRIVE to trader joe's. We decided to take the long way on the new river park. It turned out to be a 14 mile ride on the river park way there, and then just 7 miles back through town. Anyway, I got my exercise today, but I'm sorry to admit that it probably won't become a regular grocery run. We stopped at the turtle pond on campus on the way back and there were lots of turtles sunning themselves. Overall, it was a very nice day.

Two Weeks down! One to go.

This week has been not-to-bad, considering. Writing for exams for 3 weeks just feels like a long time, and man have I been doing too much sitting in front of a computer!

Some funny things that I want to remember from my little boys this week:

Someone at Noah's school just found out that she will have a baby sister or brother and she is very excited. Apparently, this has been the topic of a lot of discussion at school lately and has led Noah to do some thinking.
Wednesday morning:
Noah: "Mom, do you have a universe?"
Me: "A what?"
Noah: "A universe, the thing that all womans have under their belly button."
Me: "You mean a uterus?"
Noah: "Oh, yeah. Yeah."
I found this very funny and laughed so much that I had to assure Noah that I wasn't making fun of him!

Yesterday Morning:
Noah: "I've been really miserable at school this week."
Me: "Why?"
Noah: "Everyone is getting babies and I'm not getting one. I just get one and it's not a new one."
Poor Wesley is, clearly, old news. And for the record, I don't think Wesley would be too into the idea of "getting a baby." He is definitely the younger child.

I'll try to take (and share) some photos this week. Maybe. Wish me luck for the last leg of my writing!
