Durango-Silverton Train to the Pumpkin Patch!

Definitely the highlight of the trip for my train-loving little boys, this children's special event on the Durango-Silverton train was such a lucky find. We got on the train and rode a half hour to the outskirts of town where there was a little pumpkin festival all set up for the children on the train. We played games, picked out pumpkins, went on a hayride, trick-or-treated, wrote letters to the great pumpkin, and of course, rode on a train!

I have to warn you that I may have gone a little overboard on photos here, but if you're reading this blog then my guess is that you love seeing these ridiculously adorable little boys and will wait the extra time for the page to load, right?

Headed out to the "pumpkin patch." Silly me, I thought we were really going to a pumpkin patch, but a little fair was pretty great too.

A big trough filled with corn. The kids sunk in kind of like quick sand (only a few inches though).

Picking out a pumpkin a the end of the straw bale maze

A hayride where I accidentally dropped my purse off the side and had to get the man driving the tractor to stop. How embarrassing.

A more sanitary version of bobbing for apples? I was super happy there were apples and not just candy since I forgot to pack snacks!

Attempting to get a portrait but I couldn't get them to look at me!

More attempts, and still no glances in my direction.

Wes checking out the train coming to pick us up.

Helping daddy carry the pumpkin, which was "very heavy"

Dictating a letter to the great pumpkin

The train trip was the last bit of our awesome Colorado trip. We had a great time and we can't wait to go back. Maybe in the summer next time. Those of us who think it is chilly when the temperature goes below 85 were feeling a little chilly in Gunnison!

Oh, and no, I did not manage to take any photos while were were in Gunnison, the destination of our trip. Not sure what happened there, but I did take a couple with Chris' camera and will try to get my hands on those to show you.
