Little Friends

Isn't it interesting that before age two, before really being able to converse, humans can pick a "friend" out of a group and stick with them? Here are some more photos of Wesley with his little friend at school. They're so cute and matching.

Pizza Project

As a prize for completing swimming lessons this summer, the boys each got a coupon for a free mini pizza kit. I hauled them over there with me on Sunday, when Chris was gone on an all-day mountain bike ride. We had fun together "making" the pizzas and I enjoyed not making anything else! (I also ordered myself a pizza, but I didn't have to make it myself).

I don't know whether it was exceptionally good, or whether making something yourself just improves it that much, but I think Wes ate 5 of the little slices and Noah almost that much (Noah, amazingly, is always partial to the raw veggies over anything with cheese...).

And this last one has nothing at all to do with making pizza. I took this yesterday when I got to preschool and Wes was hanging out in the tunnel with his new best school friend. Seeing him so cozy and happy while I'm away makes me very happy.

Hot summer days

We've been busy lately. Almost too busy for taking pictures if you can believe it. We had a nice visit from my grandma (gram) and her husband. Lots of eating out and staying inside to avoid the heat, but still fun. My dad came down to, so I really should have taken some pictures.

Today was work, but Friday! Here are some photos of the boys from today. It was 105 degrees so water is essential for playing outside, even if it's just a puddle or a dripping hose.

Pretending to be a monkey when I pick to pick him up at preschool today.

If you look closely in this next one, you can see Noah just coming out of his classroom. He didn't know I was already there.

It's a challenge to get anything but this fake smile from Noah lately. It's still cute though!

Fire Chief

Can you even believe how big this boy is getting!? My mom took this photo when she was babysitting the boys last week and I just love that serious fireman face. When I got home from work that day, both boys were wearing fireman(like) boots, firehats and coats and running around. The first thing they did when I walked in the door was PUT ME OUT! (apparently, I was on fire). Phew!

Front Yard Wildlife

A big horny toad moved in to the cactus garden in our front yard. We've been watering him a little to try to make it rain, and watching him quite a bit.

Isn't he cool looking? He's so well camouflaged that we usually can't see him unless he moves.

Bike Day

I finally got motivated this morning to ride (and drop the boys off at school) on my bike! I was so proud of myself, feeling great and getting in shape. And, here is what it looks like outside my office window right now. I hope it stops before I have to go get them in an hour!

First Day of Preschool

Okay, the first day of preschool for the boys was actually Monday, but I took some pictures today. It's still the first week, right? So far, Wes is really enjoying his new classroom, teachers and new little friends. He doesn't seem to mind when I leave at all.

Here they are just before going in the gate this morning:

A view of Wes' classroom. I love the Buddha statue and Bamboo on the bookshelf.

And looking from the other corner. It's a small room, but has a nice feel and they spend lots of time outside.

And there he goes into the playground. so much fun to play all day!

Noah is in the same classroom as last year with mostly the same children and teachers, so no big transitions this year. He's already starting to talk about kindergarten though!
