Age 3 Years

IMG_6246 copy I saw this photo-with-words-on-it idea on pinterest (shared by my friend Sara, who wanted me to try to make one of Eva, but I couldn't get a smile or even a look in my direction. Maybe next time. In the meantime, I hope Sara doesn't mind my borrowing the idea :-)
Actually, this photo shoot was me chasing Noah and him trying to get away from me. It worked out okay though.

The purple crown was a project that I did with Noah's class on his real birthday. I bought a package of different colored foam sheets, cut each one in half in a zigzag pattern, and then cut about an inch off the flat side to make the back (since the foam wasn't quite wide enough to go all the way around). I brought in silver glitter, seed beeds, and birthday confetti for his class (all things it turned out I wasn't really supposed to bring, but the kids had a great time!). So this was my little photo shoot with my big 3 year old boy in his special birthday crown. IMG_6221 We got the new green convertible at the swap meet last weekend. I thought 3 years old deserves a new car, don't you? IMG_6268

Recycled Cake Pops

What can you do when your "real" birthday is two days after the party and there's just some old leftover cake in the fridge? Make cake pops!
IMG_6121 I posted about cake pops here before. All you do to make them is bake a cake, crumble it up, mix it with frosting and form balls, and then dip the balls in candy coating. So... I was looking at the ugly remains of the cake and it occurred to me that if you crumble up a cake that already has icing on it, it would probably turn out the same way. It worked! Instead of leftover cake, we had beautiful birthday cake pops! IMG_6115

3 Years Old!

We had a really fun birthday party on Saturday with a train cake and a train shaped jumping castle! Lots and Lots of Noah's friends and their parents were there. I don't think I'll ever do a party that big again if I can help it, but it was definitely worth the effort!

Happy Birthday to my big boy!!!

Singing Happy Birthday to the Birthday Boy
The kids were sure excited to see this amazing cake that Tasha, Noah and I built!
Jumping fun
Taking a little break from all the action. We went a little overboard with the jumping castle, train cake, and a pinata.
Back at it. And having a great time.

Rainbow Shoes

IMG_5874 We went looking for really comfortable shoes for Noah. I had my eye on a pair of toms for a while, and finally convinced him to try them on. What he really wanted was the pink sparkly ones. I tried to convince him that sparkly just wasn't quite practical for school. These rainbow ones are though, and we've had some happy little feet around here lately. (Thanks granddaddy for this birthday present!) IMG_5888
Here is one that I liked, not related to the rainbow shoes, but since this is my blog, I guess I can post photos of random strings of lantern's whenever I want to, can't I? IMG_5896 These are from dinner at our friends' house recently. I got a new (used, but super awesome) camera for mother's day from my wonderful husband. He surprised me by putting my lens and strap on it, and putting it in my camera bag to see if I would notice. It took me a minute to figure it out, but I certainly noticed! Anyway, these photos were just me playing around with a new toy. You'll have to be flickr savvy to figure out what it is :-) IMG_5901

One day flower

I'm sure I've posted photos of this very special kind of cactus flower before (above). They only bloom for one day, and by the afternoon they're wilted. I love how delicate they are and they seem so special because you have to just enjoy them for their short time. Below is a picture of the palo verde blossoms that are making every sneeze right now. The trees are so lovely though, covered in yellow flowers.

7 Months

7 Months already. How can it have gone by this fast? Wes is the sweetest little baby. He's quiet most of the time, but smiley, especially if someone (anyone) is talking to him. Some things he's doing now:
- Sitting up, only falling every once in a while now.
- Babbling. We've been reading Knuffle bunny. The baby in it says "aggle babble flaggle" -- Noah really gets a kick out of that because it actually sounds like what Wes is saying.
- getting up on hands and knees and rocking, trying so hard to move forward. He's getting close, but still sometimes goes backwards.
 - Millions of other things too, including being really adorable. See for yourself: -1038 copy

They love each other. Brothers.
