Family Bike Ride

This was a while ago, but here it is. We now have a family bike, the station wagon of bicycles. It even fits Noah's little bike in the pocket so he doesn't have to make it the whole way home.

You can't actually see him in the photo below, but Wes is actually riding in the ergo there.

Granddaddy and some airplanes

While my dad was here last week we went on a little trip to the Pima Air and Space Museum. One of the most exciting parts was seeing this plane, like the one that my granddaddy used to fly when he was in the airforce (I don't think his was orange though).

First Foods! Yum

Sweet Potatoes! We were having them for dinner, Wes was asking for dinner, so I put them in the blender. He was not disappointed. He loved them, actually, and couldn't stop grabbing the spoon.

Avocados. Still can't stop grabbing the spoon. These are just too good! Even granddaddy could barely get that spoon out of his hand.

And then, pears. Mmm. These were so good he couldn't help rubbing them all over his face. Poor Chris was trying to eat his own dinner, but could barely get a bite because Wesley would fuss at him any time Chris wasn't shoveling pears in his direction.

Can you believe it?? This is my 600th post on this blog. Imagine how many photos that must be...
So, on that note, here are a bunch of random things that I haven't had a chance to upload lately.

Bumbo chair in the kitchen. My cute little boys.

Trains on the dining room table. It's a world of trains around here.

Little friends, Ry and Wes

In their post-bathtime greens

Sweet Wesley.

Father-Son gardening. Can you tell they're related?

Cloth "big boy" diapers

Finally, pull-ups that I can wash. No more expensive packages of them getting thrown away every morning, often dry. Noah is potty-trained during the day, but those just-in-case diapers for nighttime still seem like a good idea. This is hopfully the last diaper we'll ever have to buy for him. You can get one here. It's just one outer shell and comes with five inserts, so all we needed was one and it works for every night (with a few washes a week).

5 Months (and 7 days...)

This little guy is growing so fast.
Some things he's doing now:

- Rolling, back to front and front to back. Trying to get somewhere.
- Laughing a lot, even when having his diaper changed. Also when being tickled.
- Almost sitting up. Still a bit unstable.
- Teething. And letting us know how uncomfortable it is.
- He loves to coo and he growls like a little bear.
- Being held is the best thing ever.
- He's much more particular than Noah was about sleeping. Lights must be off. Must be lying down. Mama must be lying down too.

I'm sure there is so much more, but my baby brain is over-taking me. Here is a link to Noah's 5 month post for comparison.

Raw Chocolate "brownie balls"

This recipe came from my friend Robin (the one who also taught me how to make my own lotion). She's kind of a health guru and these are awesome. The original recipe includes dried cherries, but they were so expensive and Chris loves figs so much that I made this batch with figs instead and they came out great.

I used:
About 6 small dates (pitted, of course)
about 6-8 dried figs
1/4 C cacao nibs
1/2 to 3/4 cups of walnuts

Turn on the food processor and I think I'd add the walnuts first next time, then the other things while the processor is on (it's a bit much to handle all a once, since these things are pretty sticky). As soon as it's all blended up, you just form it into balls. I used a round tablespoon to make them pretty. You can roll in coconut or whatever else, or just leave them how they are. Noah thought they were awesome.
