Christmas Roadtrip 2011

This is our usual circuit. Wes' first big road trip. Albuquerque first, then Amarillo and then back (we're still in Amarillo, so the 'back' is still looming ahead of us).

Jennifer had a little Christmas train set up in the living room for Noah to play with, but it turned out to be great for tummy time. Another train enthusiast is budding.

And is this a reindeer or a moose?

Turtles, rum balls, and cookies for Santa. And a few carrots for the reindeer.

Presents in the stocking. Wrapping paper is hard to get off!

Oh, and at Chris' dad's house we made what seemed like a million tamales (but it was really only 13 dozen...)

Wes has been enjoying Christmas, but mostly because he's being so spoiled by all the attention.

Xander got a lightsaber, here is Noah trying to harness the force.

The stockings were hung...

I dusted off my embroidering fingers this week to put my little ones' names on their "sockings" (Noah's interpretation of what we are calling these socks). I did Noah's first, and then I remembered how to embroider (Sort of). They're good enough for Santa to tell apart though, I think.

Geesey Reunion

IMG_8227

From last weekend's trip to Flagstaff. All my mom's brothers came down for a visit. It was a whole house full of fun Aunts and Uncles. And Noah liked being the center of attention.

And here's one more for this month's fascination with a 2 year old's experience of Christmas. I can't get enough.

P.S. Thanks to Dennis and Lisa, Noah has an awesome new room and I have to show it off.

Also, here's one of the little guy. He's not old enough to be into the spirit of Christmas or the new bedroom, but I'm determined to have photos of my second child.

A house for the sugar people

IMG_8244

We had fun building this little "kit" gingerbread house, complete with sugar people. Christmas has been so much fun this year, and we're not even there yet!

Jalapeño Jarvest

If you need some jalapeños, you should really hit us up. This is too many for one little family (especially one little family that has at least two non-jalapeño-eaters.
And the sad part is that this is the majority of our garden's output this year.

2 Months Old

... Yesterday.

Today was Wesley's 2 month appointment at the pediatrician and here are the stats:

14lbs 4oz (96th percentile)
26 in (98th percentile)

He's a big boy! He's been smiling more consistently,   which is so sweet.
He clasps his little hands together. He's much more aware of his surroundings.
He seems to be getting accustomed to the noise of having a two year old in the house, and he's really interested in looking at his big brother's face.

Decorating

-9651

This is already one of my favorite Christmases ever. Noah is old enough to be interested in Santa, to hang every ornament on the Christmas tree with determination, until they were all done, and he fell asleep faster than I've ever seen.
And he is young enough to be interested in his advent calendar, to pretend his little trains are at the north pole with a little string of Christmas lights, and to be in the season without really even understanding that Christmas is one day, or that presents are involved at all.

Wes is still too little to care about his first Christmas, of course, but he's so cute (and so is his daddy).

Stuck at home on a sick, sick rainy day

Last week Noah had croup. That means he had a barking cough, and just all around felt really lousy. So we stayed home, watched movies and read stories, had tea parties in the living room (it's cold in our dining room lately), and did art projects.

The colored sand was from this little sand art photo frame kit that Noah actually got for his last birthday (but I was really glad I saved it until last week!).

Who knew you could have so much fun with a little bit of colored sand?!
